J. The Faithfulness of God.

Unfaithfulness is the of today. This is true in every walk of life, whether in business, church, or state. But we have a God who is faithful at all times, . The Word bears out the faithfulness of God by the following:

1. Citation. Many Scriptures point out the faithfulness of God: “Know therefore that the LORD thy God, he is God, the faithful God, which with them that love him and keep his commandments to a thousand generations” (); “God is , by whom ye were called unto the fellowship of his Son Jesus Christ our Lord” (); “There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but , who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make , that ye may be able to bear it” (). See also Deuteronomy 32:4 (R.V.); I Thessalonians 5:24; II Thessalonians 3:3; I John 1:9.

2. Explanation. The meaning of “faithfulness” is , lean, , support. God is our support; He it is upon whom we can lean; when we are faltering, He is our Prop — at all times!

3. Manifestation. How does God prove faithful?

a. In . “Let us hold fast the profession of our faith without wavering; (for he is ;)... For ye have need of patience, that, after ye have done the will of God, ye might . For yet a little while, and he that shall come will come, and will not tarry” (). The promise of the virgin-born son in is fulfilled in ; the promise of God to Abraham in , that his seed would go to Egypt and stay there for four hundred years, is fulfilled in . See also these other Scriptures: Deuteronomy 7:9; I Kings 8:23, 24, 56.

b. In . Take Lamentations 3:22, 23 with and you can see that once a people becomes God’s people, they are His forever. That is because God is faithful: “It is of the LORD’S mercies that , because his compassions fail not. They are new every morning: ” (Lam. 3:22, 23); “Israel , nor Judah of his God, of the LORD of hosts; though their land was filled with sin against the Holy One of Israel” (Jer. 51:5). Other Scripture bears out the faithfulness of God in preserving His people: “Let them that suffer according to the will of God commit the keeping of their souls to him in well doing, as unto ” ().
